N-sulfenyl- and N-sulfinyl-N,N'-diacylhydrazides Abstract N-sulfenyl- and N-sulfinyl-N,N'-diacylhydrazides of formula I Image (I) wherein each of A and B, independently of the other, is phenyl or naphthyl each of which is unsubstituted or mono- or poly-substituted by halogen, C1-C4alkyl, C1-C4alkoxy, C1-C4haloalkyl, C1-C4haloalkoxy, C1-C4alkyl-S(O)n-, C1-C4haloalkyl-S(O)n-, nitro, cyano, hydroxy, carboxy or by C1-C4alkylcarbonyl or C1-C4alkoxycarbonyl, n is zero or 1, R is C1-C6alkyl, or is phenyl or naphthyl each of which may be unsubstituted or substituted as indicated above under A and B, or is a radical -N(R2)2, -N(R2)COR2, -N(R2)COOR2, -N(R2)SO2R2 or -(S)n-N(COA)N(R1)COB, R1 is C1-C6alkyl, C1-C6haloalkyl, C3-C6alkenyl, C3-C6haloalkenyl, C3-C6alkynyl or C3-C7cycloalkyl, or is phenyl or naphthyl each of which is unsubstituted or substituted as indicated above under A and B, and R2 is C1-C6alkyl, C1-C6haloalkyl, C2-C6alkoxyalkyl or C3-C6alkenyl, or is phenyl or naphthyl each of which is unsubstituted or substituted as indicated above under A and B, have good insecticidal and acaricidal activity. Processes for their preparation and their use in controlling pests in agriculture are described.
