ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high temperature resistant label that is applied to a high temperature resistant product package surface is disclosed. The label is formed by a processwherein sheet polyolefin such as polypropylene is annealed at an elevated temperature to form a stable sheet polyolefin such as polypropylene, a printablelayer is added to the sheet polypropylene, and labels are formed from the printed sheet. A high temperature stable adhesive is employed between the sheet and a backing layer. The labels are subsequently removed from the backing layer and applied to a product container. The labeled product container can then be autoclaved at temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius in order to sterilize the product with the stable labels secured to the products with the high temperature adhesive. The adhesive may be highly cross-linked and may have a standard shear holding power of at least 1,000 minutes.
