An ancillary code is extracted from the media signal by monitoring the media signal during a first time interval according to a first monitoring parameter, evaluating the media signal to detect an ancillary code and optionally monitoring the media signal during a second monitoring time interval depending on an outcome of the evaluation of the media signal. In different iterations, different data acquisition window durations and/or overlaps are applied according to a factor such as an iteration count or a detection confidence level.

L'invention concerne un code auxiliaire extrait du signal multimédia en surveillant le signal multimédia pendant un premier intervalle de temps selon un premier paramètre de surveillance; en évaluant le signal multimédia pour détecter un code auxiliaire; et en surveillant facultativement le signal multimédia pendant un second intervalle de temps de surveillance en fonction d'un résultat de l'évaluation du signal multimédia. Dans différentes itérations, différentes durées de fenêtre d'acquisition de données et/ou différents chevauchements sont appliqués selon un facteur tel qu'un décompte d'itération ou un niveau de confiance de détection.
