Case7302(2) ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE COMPOSITIONS FOR FRICTION ELEMENTS This invention relates to a composition suitable for use in friction elements and comprises a frictional material and a binder, the latter being a blend of a polyvinyl alkyl ether with a phenolic resin and optionally a rubber. Compared with conventional friction elements based on organic polymers, the elements produced using the compositions of the present invention shows increases in flexural strength of upto 50% with no loss in wear or friction performance.
