A class of styryl amidine derivatives which are antagonists of the hum NMDA receptor, being selective for those containing the NR2B subunit, are active in the treatment and/or prevention of neurological and neurodegenerative disorders, in particular neuropathic pain and headache, specifically migraine, whils displaying fewer ataxic and related side-effects associated with other classes of NMDA receptor antagonists.

Cette invention concerne une classe de dérivés de styryl amidine qui sont des antagonistes du récepteur NMDA humain, et ce de façon sélective pour les récepteurs qui renferment la sous-unité NR2B, qui interviennent activement dans le traitement et/ou la prévention de troubles neurologiques et neurodégénératives, en particulier de douleurs nevrophatiques et de maux de tête, en particulier de la migraine, tout en présentant moins d'effets ataxiques et autres effets secondaires connexes associés à d'autres classes d'antagonistes des récepteurs NMDA.
