Disclosed is a method for performing an inter-system handover (Fig. 4). The method triggers the handover of a mobile station (100) from a UTRAN system to a GSM system by sending a HANDOVER FROM UTRAN COMMAND message from the UTRAN system. For the case where a HANDOVER COMMAND is sent transparently with the HANDOVER FROM UTRAN COMMAND, where the HANDOVER COMMAND has an information element set for indicating that ciphering is to be started, the method begins data ciphering immediately after handing over to the GSM system such that the first data frame transmitted by the mobile station in the GSM system is a ciphered data frame. For the case where there is a pre-existing UTRAN system ciphered data connection when the HANDOVER FROM UTRAN COMMAND message is received, the method continues without interruption the use of data ciphering with the data connection after handing over to the GSM system.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'effectuer un transfert entre systèmes (figure). Ledit procédé consiste à déclencher le transfert d'une station mobile (100) d'un système UTRAN à un système GSM, par l'envoi d'un message COMMANDE TRANSFERT D'UTRAN à partir du système UTRAN. Lorsqu'une COMMANDE TRANSFERT est envoyée de façon transparente avec la COMMANDE TRANSFERT D'UTRAN, la COMMANDE TRANSFERT comportant un ensemble d'éléments d'information indiquant que le chiffrement doit démarrer, le procédé consiste à lancer le chiffrement des données immédiatement après la réalisation du transfert vers le système GSM, de façon que la première trame de données transmise par la station mobile dans le système GSM soit une trame de données chiffrée. Lorsqu'une communication de données chiffrées du système UTRAN est déjà en cours lors de la réception du message COMMANDE TRANSFERT D'UTRAN, le procédé consiste à poursuivre sans interruption le chiffrement des données avec la communication de données, après la réalisation du transfert vers le système GSM.
