Air bag protective cover made of an endless filament nonwoven of polyester with surface weights of 60 - 200 g/m2, whereby the nonwoven is made of meltspun, stretched and immediately laid down endless filaments having a fibre titre of 1.5 - 5 dtex, preferably 2.4 - 3 dtex, whereby the laid fibre web is subjected to a consolidation by high pressure water jets, possibly after a pre- consolidation. The resulting material protects the airbag from dirt and damage and does not impede unfolding of the airbag.
