A composite hydrogen storage material (3) including: 1) an active material having hydrogen storage capacity; and 2) a catalytic material having greater catalytic activity toward the dissociation of molecular hydrogen and/or oxidation of hydrogen than that of said active material having hydrogen storage capacity. Also, a fuel cell (7) employing anodes (1) formed from the composite hydrogen storage material (3). The fuel cell (7) has the ability to start up instantly and can accept recaptured energy such as that of regenerative braking by operating in reverse as an electrolyser.
L'invention concerne un matériau composite (3) de stockage d'hydrogène comprenant 1) un matériau actif doté d'une capacité de stockage d'hydrogène, et 2) un matériau catalytique à activité catalytique plus grande pour ce qui concerne la dissociation de l'hydrogène moléculaire et/ou l'oxydation de cet hydrogène que le matériau actif doté d'une capacité de stockage d'hydrogène. L'invention concerne également une pile à combustible (7) utilisant des anodes (1) formées à partir du matériau composite (3) de stockage d'hydrogène. Ladite pile à combustible (7) peut d'une part se déclencher instantanément et d'autre part accepter l'énergie récupérée, notamment l'énergie de freinage par récupération, en fonctionnant en mode inverse comme un électrolyseur.
