A process for detecting and compensating for missing and/or incorrectly inserted cells on the reception side in the transmission of ATM cells with a matching layer AA1 of type 1, in which a sequence number is allocated to the cells together with a fault detection and correction code which shows whether the sequence number and additional information depending thereon has been correctly transmitted or not, and a decision is taken on this basis whether a cell is to be rejected or transmitted further and whether there is a missing cell or incorrectly inserted cells, in which a decision on the acceptance or rejection of a received cell is taken directly without awaiting a following cell pending the possible decision that one cell has been preceded by one or more missing cells or that a cell has been incorrectly inserted, after the reception of a subsequent cell has been included, where if it has been decided that the first-mentioned cell has been preceded by one or more missing cells, one or more fictitious cells are inserted with the same total number of bytes between the first-mentioned and the following cells and, if it is decided that the first-mentioned has been incorrectly introduced, it is nevertheless accepted but, by way of compensation, the same number of bytes in said subsequent cells and possibly a cell following them are rejected.
L'invention concerne un procédé de détection et de compensation de l'absence ou de l'insertion incorrecte de cellules côté réception dans la transmission de cellules ATM avec une couche d'adaptation AAL de type 1, procédé selon lequel on attribue à chaque cellule un numéro de séquence et un code de détection d'erreur et de correction, lequel indique si le numéro de séquence et les informations supplémentaires qui en dépendent ont été correctement transmises ou non. Ces données permettent de décider s'il faut mettre au rebut ou retransmettre une cellule et de savoir si l'on est en présence d'une cellule manquante ou de cellules incorrectement insérées. Ce procédé permet une prise de décision immédiate quant à l'acceptation ou au rejet d'une cellule reçue, sans devoir attendre une cellule suivante, la décision éventuelle qu'une cellule soit précédée d'une ou de plusieurs cellules manquantes ou qu'une cellule soit une cellule incorrectement insérée, devant alors être prise après réception d'une cellule suivante. Dans le cas où l'on décide que la première cellule citée est précédée d'une ou de plusieurs cellules manquantes, une ou plusieurs cellules fictives ayant le même nombre total d'octets seront insérées entre la première cellule mentionnée et les cellules suivantes et dans le cas où l'on décide que la première cellule mentionnée est une cellule incorrectement insérée, cette cellule incorrectement insérée sera quand même acceptée mais, en compensation, un même nombre d'octets dans la cellule suivante mentionnée et éventuellement dans une autre cellule suivante, sera rejeté.
