An apparatus and method for trimming dye coated on a recordable disc (16) substrate (12) during production of an optical memory disc which includes a substrate rotation assembly (15) for rotating the disc substrate (12), an optic assembly (20) for directing a laser beam directly upon the rotatable substrate to trim the dye (14) coated thereon, and a process byproduct removing assembly (26) for removing the trimmed byproducts from the substrate.

On décrit un appareil et un procédé qui permettent d'ébavurer le colorant déposé sur un substrat (12) de disque (16) enregistrable pendant la production d'un disque mémoire optique qui comprend un ensemble (15) de rotation servant à faire tourner le substrat (12) de disque, un ensemble (20) optique servant à diriger un faisceau laser directement sur le substrat pouvant tourner afin d'ébavurer le colorant (14) déposé sur ce dernier, et un ensemble (26) d'élimination du sous-produit issu du procédé servant à éliminer les sous-produits d'ébavurage du substrat.
