The invention discloses an apparatus (10) for locating an object (12, 30) including a transmitter (18), a signal generator (14) mounted relative to the object (12, 30) and in operative communication with the transmitter (18); and a sensor (20) which automatically deactivates the signal generator (14) in accordance with a predetermined criterion.
