A method for determining the ideal fuel usage value of a locomotive or other off-highway vehicle is disclosed. The time spent in each of a plurality of operating modes is determined and applied to an algorithm for calculating the ideal fuel usage associated with that operating mode. The individual values calculated for each operating mode are summed in accord with the operating modes experienced during a given train run. The sum value represents the ideal fuel usage quantity for the train run.
Méthode permettant de déterminer la valeur idéale de consommation de carburant d'une locomotive ou de tout autre véhicule hors route. Le temps employé pour chacune des pluralités de mode de fonctionnement est déterminé et appliqué à un algorithme pour calculer la consommation idéale de carburant associée à tel mode de fonctionnement. Les valeurs individuelles calculées pour chaque mode de fonctionnement sont additionnées selon les modes de fonctionnement expérimentés pendant un trajet de train donné. La valeur totale représente le volume idéal de consommation de carburant pour le trajet du train.
