An adjustable speed control for use on a children's ride-on vehicle, where the speed control includes a switch assembly (32) interposed between battery (24) and motors (20, 22) of the vehicle. Switch assembly (32) is selectively operable to connect the battery (24) to motors (20, 22) in one of three speed configurations. A user may operate the switch assembly to select a particular speed configuration from among the number of speed configurations. Switch (34) is an on/off switch to interrupt the current flow to stop the vehicle and direction control switch (36) is configured to switch the polarity of the voltage to the motors to provide a reverse for the vehicle. Resistor (38) is disposed in parallel with the motors (20, 22) to provide dynamic braking by offering a current path between the terminals of the motors when they are disconnected from the battery.
L'invention concerne un régulateur de vitesse ajustable, destiné à être utilisé dans une voiture pour enfant. Ce régulateur de vitesse comprend un ensemble commutateur (32), placé entre la batterie (24) et les moteurs (20, 22) du véhicule. Cet ensemble commutateur (32) relie de manière sélective la batterie (24) aux moteurs (20, 22), selon une des trois vitesses disponibles. L'utilisateur peut manoeuvrer cet ensemble commutateur pour sélectionner une vitesse particulière parmi les vitesses disponibles. Le commutateur (34) est un interrupteur général qui permet d'interrompre le courant, et ainsi d'arrêter le véhicule. Le commutateur de commande de direction (36) permet de faire commuter la polarité de la tension vers les moteurs afin de fournir une position de marche arrière au véhicule. Une résistance (38) montée en parallèle avec les moteurs (20, 22) permet un freinage dynamique du véhicule, grâce à l'établissement d'un trajet de courant entre les bornes desdits moteurs, lorsque ces derniers sont déconnectés de la batterie.
