A chiller for chilling a quantity of fluid of the type comprising an adsorbent for receiving and adsorbing under pressure a quantity of gas and in which the desorption of gas from the adsorption causes a reduction in temperature of the adsorbent and adsorbate which acts to chill the fluid, wherein the chiller comprises a thin-walled vessel for placement in direct thermal contact with the fluid to be chilled and wherein the vessel comprises two thin sheets thereof so as to form a cavity shape, joined together around the peripheral edges thereof so as to form a cavity therebetween for containing the adsorbent. Heat transfer means are provided to ensure efficient transfer of heat between the surface of the body of adsorbent and the adsorbent therewithin.
Refroidisseur servant à refroidir une quantité de fluide comportant un adsorbant capable de recevoir et d'adsorber sous pression une certaine quantité de gaz et dans lequel la désorption du gaz résultant de l'adsorption entraîne une baisse de température de l'adsorbant et de l'adsorbat, ce qui refroidit le fluide. Le refroidisseur est constitué d'un récipient à parois minces avec lequel le fluide à refroidir est placé en contact thermique direct. Le récipient se compose de deux feuilles minces jointes autour des bords périphériques du récipient pour former une cavité contenant l'adsorbant. Un dispositif transfert efficacement la chaleur de la surface au centre de l'adsorbant.
