A method of screening for agents which are able to inhibit angiogenesis. Such agent have therapeutic application in the treatment of conditions including cancer, macular degeneration and retinopathies. Also included are methods of treating a patient having a pathological condition characterized by an increase in angiogenesis which comprises administering to the patient an agent capable of inhibiting activation of an integrin subunit.

L'invention concerne une méthode permettant de cribler des agents capables d'inhiber l'angiogénèse. Ces agents sont utilisés dans des applications thérapeutiques permettant de traiter des états pathologiques tels que le cancer, la dégénérescence maculaire et les rétinopathies. L'invention concerne également des méthodes permettant de traiter un patient présentant un état pathologique caractérisé par une augmentation de l'angiogénèse, qui consistent à administrer à ce patient un agent capable d'inhiber l'activation d'une sous-unité d'intégrine.
