A means for providing a minimum repair solution in a memory redundancy allocation system by finding an optimal solution assuming the availability of unlimited spare resources and then, under the same conditions, adapting the optimal solution obtained to an existing ratio of spare resources. Use of the adapting means can reduce the required amount of redundancy and number of waste repairs and enhance device reliability, thus improving overall yield and the profitability of a memory manufacturer.

Cette invention concerne un système offrant une solution de réparation minimale dans un système d'allocation par redondance de mémoire, lequel système consiste à trouver une solution optimale en se fondant sur la disponibilité de ressources de remplacement illimitées. Ensuite, et dans ces mêmes conditions, on adapte la solution optimale ainsi obtenue en fonction du rapport existant des ressources de remplacement. L'utilisation d'un système d'adaptation permet de réduire la quantité de redondance requise ainsi que le nombre de réparations inutiles, et d'accroître ainsi la fiabilité du dispositif, ce qui permet d'améliorer le rendement global ainsi que les profits d'un fabriquant de mémoires.
