The present invention concerns a method for improving growth characteristics of plants by increasing activity and/or expression in a plant of an SnRK2 kinase or a homologue thereof. One such method comprises introducing into a plant an SnRK2 nucleic acid molecule or functional variant thereof. The invention also relates to transgenic plants having improved growth characteristics, which plants have modulated expression of a nucleic acid encoding an SnRK2 kinase. The present invention also concerns constructs useful in the methods of the invention.
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'amélioration des caractéristiques de croissance de plantes par augmentation de l'activité et/ou de l'expression dans la plante de la SnRK2 kinase ou de l'une de ses homologues. L'un de ces procédés consiste à introduire dans la plante une molécule d'acide nucléique SnRK2 ou de l'une de ses variantes fonctionnelles. L'invention concerne également des plantes transgéniques présentant des caractéristiques de croissance améliorées, lesquelles plantes ont une expression modulée d'un acide nucléique codant une SnRK2 kinase. L'invention concerne enfin des constructions convenant aux procédés de l'invention.
