ABSTRACT The invention relates to the use of compounds of the general formula I or II, Image Image I II in which R1 stands for ethyl or hydrogen, R2 for ethyl, R3 for methyl and R4 for a benzyl radical, and mixtures thereof as a heat transfer fluid. The fluid may further comprise at least one compound of the general formula III or IV, Image Image III IV wherein R1 to R4 have the meaning defined above. The heat transfer fluids according to the invention remain liquid over a wide range of temperatures, show favourable viscosity characteristics in the lower temperature range (up to -26°C) and an excellent thermal stability in the upper temperature range (up to about 370°C).
