A device for recycling automotive windshields (11). An automotive windshield is comprised of two layers of glass and a plastic liner sandwiched in between. The present invention strips the glass from surfaces of the inner plastic liner, comminutes the glass and separates the two substances for recovery. A windshield is fed into the unit (11) by means of dual horizontal feed rollers (14). The windshield then passes over a stationery breaker bar (25) and into the path of a plurality of rotating flexible impactors (26). The force of the rotating impactors (26) on the top surface and the stationery breaker bar (25) on the under surface act together to strip the glass from both sides of the inner plastic liner material. The glass is hammered into small particles the size of gravel and sand while the plastic breaks into much larger fragments. A shaker screen (43) located below the rotating impactors (26) serves to separate the two substances for individual recovery.

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de recyclage des pare-brise (11) d'automobiles. Un pare-brise d'automobile comporte deux couches de verre et un film de plastique compris entre elles. Ledit dispositif arrache le verre des surfaces du film de plastique, broye le verre et sépare les deux substances en vue de leur récupération. Un pare-brise est introduit dans l'unité (11) par l'intermédiaire de deux cylindres d'alimentation (14) horizontaux. Le pare-brise passe sur une barre de cassage fixe (25) puis par une série de marteaux rotatifs souples (26). La force des marteaux rotatifs (26) agissant sur la surface supérieure et la barre de cassage fixe (25) agissant sur la face inférieure concourent à arracher le verre des deux côtés du film de plastique. Le verre est pilé en menues particules de la taille du gravier et du sable tandis que le plastique se scinde en fragments nettement plus grands. Un crible vibrant (43) placé sous les marteaux rotatifs (26) sépare les deux substances en vue de leur récupération.
