A stent (100) with a plurality of support elements (110) that are deployable within a body for supporting a vessel or other body structure. The stent (110) includes first (104) and second (106) terminal ends and a length extending between the terminal ends(104, 106). Support rails (120) extend between the terminal ends (104, 106) and through the support elements (110) in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stent (100). The support elements (110) can include openings (117) for receiving the rails (120). The rails (120) can be formed of a spring (122) so that the stend (100) can easily conform to the minor bend of a curved vessel when the stent (100) is deployed.
