An endplate for a prosthetic intervertebral disc is disclosed wherein the height or angle of the disc can be adjusted. In one embodiment, the endplate comprises an outer plate (51) having a threaded recess (56) and a threaded inner plate (61) having an articulating surface (65). Further disclosed is an intervertebral disc comprising a first endplate with a movable wedge therein. The wedge acts either on a second flexible endplate or to an inner plate received in a recess of the first endplate in order to adjust the height of the intervertebral disc.
