Thus a system 24 includes a base frame 28, a safety frame 30 and a carousel arrangement 32, which supports a number of lid cassette holders 34. Each lid cassette is made up of a stack of battery lids 12 held in alignment by means of two magazine rods 72 which pass through aligned bores 15 and 17 of the terminal posts 14 and 16.
