A collection device for animal droppings comprises an elongated handle having at the lower end a pair of jaws for gripping the droppings and a bag for collection of the droppings released from the clamp. The clamp and the collection bag are activated by cables or push rods operated by levers at the upper end of the handle. The collection device comprises a ring supporting a bag which is movable from a stored position in which the jaws are unobstructed to a deployed position in which the collection bag is positioned to receive droppings released from the clamp.
