An implantable prosthesis intended, primarily for the repair of muscle wall defects such as occur in inguinal hernias is fabricated from a surgically compatible mesh material having a prismatic external mesh wall (1). The prismatic shape includes three lobes (2), providing a generally triangular cross-sectional shape. The shape is maintained by internal reinforcing ribs (3), which here extend the length of the prism. The ribs are formed through the connection of three individual mesh strips (4), with each rib comprising two strip parts forming a lamination extending the length of the prism. With this construction closure of elongate legions is readily achieved and a wide range of elongate shapes and dimensions of hernias can be treated.

L'invention concerne une prothèse implantable destinée essentiellement à la réparation de défauts de parois musculaires tels qu'ils peuvent se produire dans des hernies inguinales, et fabriquée en une matière à mailles compatible du point de vue chirurgical, présentant une paroi prismatique (1) à mailles externes. La forme prismatique comprend trois lobes (2) constituant une forme de section transversale générale triangulaire. La forme est maintenue par des nervures de renforcement intérieures (3) qui augmentent ici la longueur du prisme. Les nervures sont formées par le raccordement de trois bandes (4) de mailles individuelles, chaque nervure comprenant deux parties de bande formant une stratification étendant la longueur du prisme. Cette construction permet d'obtenir une fermeture aisée de lésions oblongues et de traiter une large gamme de formes et de dimensions oblongues de hernies.
