In order to determine the biological oxygen demand of sewage, a sample of sewage is taken into a reaction vessel (1) in which there is a biological bath (2) which is kept moving turbulently by an agitator (6). An oxygen probe (8) measures the oxygen consumption per unit time. The biological oxygen demand is determined from the dilution ratio between the sewage sample taken and the dilution water in the reaction vessel (1) and from the oxygen consumption per unit time. After each measuring cycle the reaction vessel (1) is rinsed with diluting water and is then ready for another measuring cycle. The reaction vessel (1) penetrates into the sewage to be tested. The sewage sample enters the reaction vessel (1) via an aperture (12).
Pour déterminer la demande biologique en oxygène d'eaux usées, on prélève un échantillon de ces eaux usées dans une cuve de réaction (1), dans laquelle un bain biologique (2) est maintenu en mouvement de façon turbulente par un agitateur (6). Une sonde à oxygène (8) mesure la consommation d'oxygène par unité de temps. La demande en oxygène biologique est déterminée à partir du rapport de dilution entre l'échantillon d'eaux usées prélevé et l'eau de dilution dans la cuve de réaction (1), et à partir de la consommation d'oxygène par unité de temps. Après chaque cycle de mesure, la cuve de réaction (1) est rincée avec de l'eau de dilution pour un autre cycle de mesure. La cuve de réaction (1) pénètre dans les eaux usées à analyser. L'échantillon d'eaux usées entre dans la cuve de réaction (1) par une ouverture (12).
