A computer method is provided of online mining of quantitative association rules which has two stages, a preprocessing stage followed by an online rule generation stage. The required computational effort is reduced by the preprocessing stage, defined by preprocessing data to organize the relationships between antecedent attributes to create a hierarchically arranged multidimensional indexing structure. The resulting structure facilitates the performance of the second stage, online processing, which involves the generation of quantitative association rules. The second stage, online rule generation, utilizes the multidimensional index structure created by the preprocessing stage by first finding the areas in the data which correspond to the rules and then uses a merging step to create a merged tree in order to carefully combine interesting regions in order to give a hierarchical representation of the rule set. The merged tree is then used in order to actually generate the rules.
La présente invention concerne un procédé informatique d'extraction en ligne de règles d'association quantitatives comprenant deux étapes, une étape de prétraitement suivi d'une étape de génération de règles en ligne. L'effort informatique requis est réduit par l'étape de prétraitement, définie par des données de prétraitement afin d'organiser les rapports entre des attributs antécédents de façon à créer une structure d'index multidimensionnelle hiérarchiquement organisée. La structure résultante facilite la performance de la première étape, à savoir le traitement en ligne, qui implique la génération de règles d'association quantitatives. La seconde étape, à savoir la génération de règles, utilise la structure d'index multidimensionnelle créée par l'étape de prétraitement, pour trouver d'abord les zones de données qui correspondent aux règles, et utilise ensuite une étape de fusionnement pour créer un arbre fusionné de façon à associer soigneusement des régions intéressantes pour obtenir une représentation hiérarchique de l'ensemble de règles. L'arbre fusionné est, ensuite, utilisé pour produire effectivement les règles.
