A protective covering for a wooden deck and method of installing the same. A first step involves providing a deck including a substructure with a plurality of wooden boards positioned in parallel spaced relation across the substructure. A second step involves providing a plurality of caps. A third step involves placing one of the caps over each of the plurality of wooden boards, so that each of the plurality of wooden boards is completely covered by one of the caps and securing the caps to the wooden boards to prevent accidental displacement.
