A cemetery monument comprises a hollow member molded from polyethylene material. The hollow member includes a base portion for supporting the hollow member on the around and a raised face portion extending generally upward from the base portion and within the perimeter thereof. A lip extends generally downward from the perimeter. The base portion slopes slightly up from the perimeter towards the raised face portion, forming a slightly sloped border surface around the raised face portion, and providing a hollow under the sloped surface to accommodate high spots in the ground under the monument. A plate is affixed to the raised face portion and inscribed with information related to a deceased person.
