Disclosed is a water-insoluble polymer which promotes cell proliferation, is produced by a radical copolymerization and is composed of: (I) repeating units of at least one aliphatically unsaturated monomer containing a carboxylate group; (II) repeating units of at least one aliphatically unsaturated monomer containing a sulfonate group; and (III) repeating units of at least one aliphatically unsaturated monomer other than the components (I) or (II). The polymer is useful for producing an article, especially a medical article such as an artificial blood vessel.
