A modular storage container and sleeping platform for removable installation in vehicles. The invention is particularly adapted for use in mini-vans having removable rear passenger seats. The invention comprises a plurality of portable storage units each having a cover adjustable between open and closed positions. Each of the storage units is removably securable to a seat emplacement of the vehicle. When the storage units are assembled together they define a plurality of storage compartments of different sizes and orientations which are accessible from the rear and side doors of the vehicle. In the assembled configuration, the covers together define a flat sleeping platform when they are adjusted to the closed position.
