A novel trailer body (20) design having a plurality of "dummy" splices (88) thereon is provided by the present invention. The dummy splices (88) are used to improve the aesthetics of a trailer body (20) so that a subsequently performed repair of the body (20) is not noticeable. The side walls (24, 26) of the body (20) are formed from upper and lower panels (44, 46), and a horizontal logistics member (48) connected between the panels (44, 46) to join the panels (44, 46) together along the length of the body (20). The horizontal logistics member (48) spaces the panels (44, 46) apart and includes a plurality of spaced apertures (74) therethrough. The apertures (74) align with the space (66) so that equipment can be attached to the inside of the body (20). The dummy splices (88) are vertically affixed to the outer surface of at least one of the panels and spaced apart from each other along the length thereof. Each vertical dummy splice ( 88) may be a metal or plastic plate or a decal secured to the outer surface of the panel. When a repair is performed on the trailer body (20) due to damage of the side wall (24, 26), the damaged portion of the panel, along with the adjacent dummy vertical splices (88), are cut out of the panel. A replacement wall section is inserted into the cutout and affixed to the remainder of the panel by conventional permanent splices. Because of the remaining dummy splices (88), the body (20) does not look like it has been repaired.
Cette invention concerne une caisse de remorque novatrice (20) comportant une série de "fausses" plaques d'assemblage (88) sur ses faces extérieures verticales. Les fausses plaques d'assemblage (88) ont une fonction esthétique et servent à masquer toute réparation éventuelle des panneaux formant la caisse (20). Les parois latérales (24, 26) de la caisse (20) se composent de panneaux supérieurs et inférieurs (44, 46); un profilé d'arrimage (48) horizontal faisant toute la longueur de la caisse (20) assure l'assemblage des panneaux (44, 46) par leur face intérieure. Ce profilé (48) maintient les panneaux (44, 46) écartés les uns des autres et comporte une série de fentes espacées (74) sur toute sa longueur. Ces fentes (74) se trouvent à la même hauteur que l'espace (66) ménagé entre les panneaux (44, 46), afin de permettre la fixation de matériels sur les parois intérieures de la caisse (20). Les fausses plaques d'assemblage (88) sont fixées verticalement à la face extérieure d'au moins un des panneaux et sont latéralement espacées les unes des autres. Ces plaques (88) peuvent être en métal ou en plastique ou peuvent prendre la forme d'une décalcomanie fixée à la face extérieure de la caisse. Lorsqu'une réparation des parois latérales (24, 26) de la caisse (20) s'impose, la partie endommagée des panneaux constitutifs est découpée tout comme les fausses plaques d'assemblage (88) adjacentes. La section de remplacement est placée dans la découpure et fixée au panneau d'origine au moyen de plaques d'assemblage permanentes conventionnelles. La présence des autres fausses plaques d'assemblage (88) fait en sorte que la caisse (20) ne semble pas avoir été réparée.
