The container (100) is extensible from a closed position to an open position, and includes a rectangular tray (150) for litter, and a cover (110) which is releasably attached to the tray (150) when the container (100) is closed. The sides (154) and ends (156) of the cover (110) are collapsible, and bias the container (100) open when the cover (110) is released from the closed position. A pair of rotatable tabs (134) lock the sides (154) open.
