The invention relates to a method for preserving wood. The invention also relates to a wood product. The invention further relates to an apparatus for performing the method according to the invention. The preservation process according to the invention has a relatively short process time, wherein a good preservation is realized while the mechanical strength of the wood is largely retained. Also, the amount of waste wood material is greatly reduced by using the method according to the invention.
