The present invention solves a possible contributing cause of Suddent Infant Death Syndrome. A body support pad (1) has a support portion (2) and a pillow (3) portion. The support portion (2) is removably connected to the pillow portion (3). The pillow portion (3) provides ventilation to the infant. The pillow portion (3) has a thin outer sheet (4) permeable to the passage of air. The pillow portion (3) also keeps the head of the infant in healthy repose. The interior of the pillow is subdivided into an upper portion (10) containing a porous foam material (5) and a lower portion (11) containing an air pocket (7). An air pump (15) supplies air to the air pocket (7) to thereby supply air to the nose and mouth of the infant.
