A closure and/or control member for the outlet of a metallurgical vessel comprises a stator (3) and a rotor (4) which is rotatable relative to said stator and by means of which the flow of melt is controllable. In order to provide an additional sensitive control means, a low-pressure chamber (14), which is connectable to a vacuum generator (17), is provided.
