Method and apparatus for supporting the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) connectionless service by means of Partial Connections (PCs) in an ATM system. These PCs are established between the source users of said ATM system and the destination switching nodes to which the destination users are linked. The use of PCs has no constraints on the size of the domain, because the information the source user includes in the ConnectionLess (CL) cells to be transmitted to a destination user, is local to the source switching node.

Une méthode et un appareil pour appuyer le mode de transfert asynchrone (MTA) sans connexion au moyen de connexions partielles (CP) dans un système de MTA. Ces CP sont établies entre les usagers transmetteurs dudit système de MTA et les noeuds de commutation de destination auxquels les usagers receveurs sont reliés. L'utilisation des CP n'impose aucune restriction quant à la taille du domaine, parce que l'information que l'usager transmetteur inclut dans les cellules sans connexion (CC) et qui doit être transmise à un usager receveur est locale au noeud de commutation source.
