The invention relates to an input device into which characters from a character set can be input, especially one-handedly, and a method using said input device. The inventive device comprises a display screen, at least one scrolling device and at least one key. At least one part of the character set is displayed on the screen in lines and columns. The method is characterised in that a character is inputted by means of the scrolling device which is used to preselect at least one part of a column, and by means of the at least one key which is used to select a character from a line of the preselected column.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de saisie permettant de saisir des symboles, de préférence à une main, à partir d'un ensemble de symboles, ainsi qu'un procédé pouvant être mis en oeuvre au moyen de ce dispositif de saisie. Ledit dispositif de saisie comporte un écran, au moins une unité de défilement, et au moins une touche, au moins une partie de l'ensemble de symboles étant affichée sous forme de lignes et de colonnes sur l'écran. Ledit procédé est caractérisé en ce que la saisie d'un symbole est effectuée au moyen de l'unité de défilement permettant de présélectionner une partie d'une colonne, et au moyen de la ou des touches permettant de sélectionner un symbole dans une ligne de la colonne présélectionnée.
