The invention provides a curable two layer effect providing coating system which provides a visual appearance and effect previously obtainable only with a curable three layer effect providing coating system. The two layer effect providing coating system of the invention consists essentially of a first layer consisting of a first coating composition (a), and a transparent second layer applied directly to the first layer and consisting of a second coating composition (b) comprising an effective amount of an interference metal oxide coated mica having a hue shift of at least 100~. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the first coating composition (a) will be tinted so as to match the color of the second coating composition (b) when viewed at an angle of 110~ from vertical. Most preferably, the first coating composition (a) will comprise (i) at least 95 weight percent titanium dioxide pigment and (ii) no more than 5 weight percent of one or more tint pigments, all based on the total weight of the first coating composition (a).
L'invention concerne un système de revêtement bicouche durcissable à effet visuel qui offre un effet et une apparence visuels que l'on n'a réussi à obtenir jusqu'ici qu'avec un système de revêtement durcissable à effet visuel tricouche. Le système de revêtement bicouche à effet visuel est essentiellement constitué d'une première couche comprenant une première composition de revêtement (a), et d'une seconde couche transparente appliquée directement sur la première couche et comprenant une seconde composition de revêtement (b) contenant une quantité efficace d'un mica recouvert d'oxyde métallique d'interaction qui présente un déplacement de teinte d'au moins 100 DEG . Dans un mode préféré de réalisation, la première composition de revêtement (a) est teintée de manière à correspondre à la couleur de la seconde composition de revêtement (b) lorsqu'elle est regardée selon un angle de 110 DEG à la verticale. Plus préférablement, la première composition de revêtement (a) comprend (1) au moins 95 % en poids de pigment de dioxyde de titane et (2) 5 % maximum en poids d'un ou de plusieurs pigments de peinture, tous basés sur le poids total de la première composition de revêtement (a).
