ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of preparing an amino acid ester in high yield, comprises heating a reaction mixture containing an amino acid, sulfuric acid and an alcohol while adding an additional amount of the alcohol as a liquid or gas to the reaction mixture and distilling off substantially the same amount of alcohol from the reaction mixture.
