The invention concerns a battery, which during maintenance or danger can be easily and safely converted from an operative to a harmless inactive status so as to avoid a short-circuit. This is achieved in one of two ways. Firstly, by providing a controlled draining device which can be activated to quickly drain the electrolyte, all energy-producing processes being stopped after the electrolyte is drained. Secondly, a battery is created with these properties so that in case of danger a deactivating substance is introduced into the electrolyte via a lead, thus stopping all current-producing electrolytic processes.

L'invention concerne une batterie qui, lors de la maintenance ou en cas de danger, peut être aisément et en toute sécurité convertie d'un état de fonctionnement à un état de repos non dangereux de manière à éviter un court-circuit. Pour y parvenir, un dispositif de vidange actionnable par commande permet de vidanger rapidement l'électrolyte, tous les processus de production d'énergie étant arrêtés après vidange de l'électrolyte. D'autre part, on a mis au point une batterie présentant ces caractéristiques, dans laquelle, en cas de danger, une substance désactivante est introduite dans l'électrolyte par l'intermédiaire d'une canalisation, ce qui arrête tous les processus électrolytiques de production de courant.
