The present invention provides a hydroelectric generator assembly for use within footwear, comprising a first compressible, fluid-filled sac for placement in a heel section of the footwear, the first sac having an inlet and an outlet; a second compressible, fluid- filled sac for placement in a front section of the footwear, the second sac having an inlet and an outlet; a hydroelectric generator module in fluid communication with the outlet of the first sac and the inlet of the second sac; a fluid conduit extending between the outlet of the second sac and the inlet of the first sac, wherein, upon the wearer of said footwear walking, said first sac is compressed thereby causing flow of fluid from said first sac, via said generator to said second sac, resulting in the generation of electricity, and upon compression of said second sac, fluid flows along said fluid conduit to said first sac.
