There is provided water insoluble cross-linked polycarboxylic acid having at least two strands in a strand skeleton of formula (I) wherein one carbonyl group of at least one maleoyl moiety thereof in each strand is covalently linked to a -HN.[(H)p(CH)z.(OH)m].NH- moiety to provide the presence therein of at least one cross-linked moiety of formula (V) wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkylene or lower alkoxy of 1-4 carbon atoms, or phenyl, x and y are integers, z is an integer of 1 - 6, p is 0 or an integer up to z - 1, m is 0 or an integer up to z, and w is an integer from 2 - 12. There is disclosed a method of making such polycarboxylic acid as well as methods of utilizing same to remove proteins from aqueous media containing same to provide a matrix. Methods are disclosed for recovering proteins from said matrix without denaturing them and methods for recovering the polycarboxylic acid from said matrix.
L'invention concerne un acide polycarboxylique réticulé insoluble dans l'eau ayant au moins deux brins dont le squelette est représenté par la formule (I) où un groupe carbonyle d'au moins une fraction maléoyle de celui-ci dans chaque brin est lié par covalence à la fraction -HN.[(H)¿p?(CH)¿2?.(OH)¿m?].NH- pour assurer la présence d'au moins une fraction réticulée de formule (V) où R représente hydrogène ou alkylène inférieur ou alcoxy inférieur contenant entre 1 et 4 atomes de carbone, ou phényle, x et y sont des entiers, z est un entier compris entre 1 et 6, p vaut 0 ou un entier pouvant aller jusqu'à z - 1, n vaut 1 ou un entier inférieur ou égal à z, et w est un entier allant de 2 à 12. On décrit un procédé de production de cet acide polycarboxylique ainsi que des procédés d'utilisation de celui-ci pour éliminer des protéines d'un milieu aqueux afin de produire une matrice, des procédés permettant de récupérer les protéines à partir de cette matrice sans les dénaturer, et des procédés de récupération de l'acide polycarboxylique dans la matrice en question.
