The invention concerns a device for measuring the distance separating two parts capable of being moved relatively to each other by magneto-optical effect. It comprises a permanent magnet (1) fixed on one of the parts (2) and an electro-optical device (3) fixed on the other part (4). The electro-optical device (3) comprises: a diode emitting (9) an optical beam (8); a magneto-optical film (5) with Faraday effect arranged between a polarizer (6) and an analyser (7) and in the magnet (1) magnetic field when the two parts are in the proximity of each other, the whole assembly being traversed by the optical beam (8); and a diode receiving the optical beam retransmitted by the analyser (7) to transform the beam light intensity into an electric signal whereof the amplitude depends on the distance separating the two parts (2, 3) when they are in the proximity of each other. The invention is useful for controlling the closing of doors in aircraft.
Le dispositif est destiné à mesurer la distance séparant deux pièces pouvant être déplacées l'une par rapport à l'autre par effet magnéto-optique. Il comprend un aimant permanent (1) fixé sur l'une des pièces (2) et un dispositif électro-optique (3) fixé sur l'autre pièce (4). Le dispositif électro-optique (3) comprend: une diode émettrice (9) d'un faisceau optique (8); un film magnéto-optique (5) à effet Faraday disposé d'une part, entre un polariseur (6) et un analyseur (7) et d'autre part, dans le champ magnétique de l'aimant (1) lorsque les deux pièces sont à proximité l'une de l'autre, l'ensemble étant traversé par le faisceau optique (8); et une diode réceptrice du faisceau optique retransmis par l'analyseur (7) pour transformer l'intensité lumineuse du faisceau en un signal électrique dont l'amplitude dépend de la distance séparant les deux pièces (2, 3) lorsqu'elles sont à proximité l'une de l'autre. Application: contrôle de fermeture de portes d'aéronefs.
