An apparatus and method for soft-combining demodulated symbols in a mobile communication system. A transmitting apparatus modulates symbols in different modulation schemes and a receiving apparatus demodulates the modulation symbols in correspondence with the modulation schemes. The soft symbol combining apparatus includes an RWF calculator, an RWF controller, and a soft symbol controller. The RWF calculator calculates an energy of a modulation symbol and determines relative ratios of the energies to be RWFs. The RWF controller multiplies soft metrics of the demodulated soft symbols by the RWFs. Finally, the soft symbol controller combines the multiplied soft metrics.
L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé permettant de combiner par logiciel des symboles démodulés dans un système de télécommunication mobile. Un appareil émetteur module les symboles selon différents plans de modulation et un appareil récepteur démodule les symboles de modulation en correspondance avec les plans de modulation. L'appareil de combinaison logicielle de symboles comprend un calculateur RWF (facteur de pondération de fiabilité), un contrôleur RWF et un contrôleur de symboles logiciels. Le calculateur RWF calcule l'énergie d'un symbole de modulation et détermine si les ratios relatifs des énergies sont des facteurs de pondération de fiabilité. Le contrôleur RWF multiplie les mesures logicielles des symboles logiciels démodulés au moyen des facteurs de pondération de fiabilité. Enfin, le contrôleur de symboles logiciels combine les mesures logicielles multipliées.
