A spatial light modulator assembly is disclosed which adapts a conventional photographic printer to generate photographic images from electronic image signal such as that created by an electronic still image camera. The spatial light modulator assembly comprises a spatial light modulator ("SLM") which is connected to a computer for imprinting electronic image signal thereon where the electronic image signal is communicated from the computer. The SLM is secured within an adapter which is formed to fit in a negative carrier of the photographic printer such that an image imprinted on the SLM is positioned over a light source thereby projecting the image onto a photosensitive medium held within the conventional photographic printer.
L'invention est une unité de modulation spatiale de lumière qui sert d'adaptateur à une imprimante photographique ordinaire pour produire des images photographiques à partir de signaux d'imagerie électronique tels que ceux créés par un appareil photo électronique. L'unité de modulation spatiale de lumière comporte un modulateur spatial de lumière connecté à un ordinateur que fait imprimer une image sur ce modulateur en lui transmettant un signal d'imagerie électronique. Le modulateur est fixé à l'intérieur d'un adaptateur construit pour être inséré dans le support à négatifs de l'imprimante photographique de façon que l'image imprimée sur le modulateur soit positionnée au-dessus d'une source lumineuse et soit par conséquent projetée sur un support photosensible contenu dans l'imprimante photographique.
