P-479 DRD TWO TONE VEHICLE DOOR SHELL AND TOOL FOR ITS MANUFACTURE Abstract of the Disclosure A two tone plastic vehicle door shell (10) has a front surface (12) and a side surface (14) separated into two tone segments (18, 20) (18a, 20a) by an integral two tone trim line (22). The shell's side surface is joined to a return flange (16). The return flange is arranged generally parallel to the front of the shell and includes a side flap (26) thereon which covers a cut-out opening (24) in the return flange on either side of the trim line at the side of the door. The cut-out opening (24) is provided for removing a seal and divider wall assembly from the door shell when thermoplastic powder is cast on a heated mold to form the shell. A tool for manufacturing the two tone plastic shell includes an electroformed mold (28) having a first surface (29) for forming a front of a shell; a second surface (32) for forming the side edge portion of a shell; and a third surface segment (34) for forming a return flange on a door shell and the third surface segment has a cut-out opening (36) therein and a runout surface (40) providing for entry and removal of a seal and divider wall assembly to seal against a sealing rib (38) in the mold which separates the first, second and third P-479 DRD - 2 - segments into first and second casting surfaces. The divider rib and runout surface are sprayed with thermoplastic material to form a joint between material cast on the first and second casting surfaces and a skin return flap for sealing the cut-out opening.
Cette invention concerne un caisson de portière en plastique deux tons (10) comportant une face avant (12) et une face latérale (14) séparées en segments de couleurs différentes (18, 20) (18a, 20a) par profil décoratif deux tons moulé à même (22). La face latérale du caisson est jointe à un rabat (16). Ce rabat est généralement parallèle à l'avant du caisson et comprend une aile latérale (26) qui couvre une découpure (24) y pratiquée de part et d'autre du profil décoratif dans la face latérale du caisson. La découpure (24) est ménagée pour permettre l'enlèvement d'une garniture d'étanchéité et cloison du caisson lorsqu'une poudre thermoplastique est coulée sur un moule chauffé servant à la fabrication du caisson. Cette invention concerne également un outil utilisé pour fabriquer le caisson en plastique deux tons et composé d'un moule électroformé (28) présentant une première surface (29) servant à former la face avant du caisson, une seconde surface (32) servant à former la face latérale du caisson et une troisième surface (34) servant à former le rabat du caisson, ladite troisième surface comportant une ouverture découpée (36) et une plage (40) pour l'insertion et l'enlèvement d'une garniture d'étanchéité et d'une cloison destinées à s'appuyer sur une nervure (38) du moule qui sépare les premier, deuxième et troisième segments en une première et une seconde surfaces de moulage. La nervure de séparation et la plage reçoivent un jet de poudre thermoplastique pour former un joint entre la matière coulée sur la première et la seconde surface de moulage et un rabat pelliculaire servant à fermer la découpure.
