A novel organic compound useful for detecting the total quantity of isocyanate in an environmental sample is provided. The compound is 9-anthracenylmethyl-1- piperazinecarboxylate (PAC), an isocyanate derivatizing agent. A process for producing PAC and methods for detecting a particular isocyanate monomer or the total isocyanate in environmental samples using PAC and related isocyanate derivatizing agents are also provided.

L'invention concerne un nouveau composé servant à la détection de la quantité totale d'isocyanate dans un échantillon de l'environnement. Le composé est 9-anthracénylméthyl-1-pipérazinecarboxylate (PAC), un agent de dérivatisation d'isocyanates.
