Impending seizure warning (ISW), seizure susceptibility period detection (SSPD), hours or days before an impending seizure, and time to impending seizure prediction (TISP) are provided by measuring each of a number of signals from different locations about a patient's brain, and generating therefrom, a spatio-temporal response based on these signals. Chaoticity profiles are then generated for each spatio-temporal response. Over a period of time, a determination is made as to whether a certain level of dynamic entrainment exists between the chaoticity profiles associated with the responses from a set of critical locations. If so, a seizure warning, an indication of seizure susceptibility and a prediction of a time of occurrence of an impending seizure may be issued.
L'invention concerne une méthode permettant d'avertir un patient d'une crise d'épilepsie imminente, de détecter la période de sensibilité à une crise d'épilepsie des heures voire des jours avant une crise d'épilepsie imminente, et d'estimer l'intervalle de temps précédant l'apparition prévue de la crise d'épilepsie imminente. Ladite méthode consiste à mesurer chacun des signaux provenant de différents points du cerveau d'un patient, et à générer, à partir de ces mesures, une réponse spatio-temporelle basée sur ces signaux. On génère ensuite des profils de chaoticité pour chaque réponse spatio-temporelle. On détermine ensuite, sur une période temporelle, s'il existe un certain niveau d'entraînement dynamique entre les profils de chaoticité associés aux réponses provenant d'un ensemble de points critiques. Si tel est le cas, le procédé selon l'invention permet de générer un avertissement de crise d'épilepsie, une indication de la sensibilité à la crise d'épilepsie et une prévision de la survenue dans le temps d'une crise d'épilepsie imminente.
