A device for monitoring the volume of food consumed during a meal includes a sensor and a belt. The sensor includes a sensor housing, an alarm, and an activation switch operatively connected to the alarm; and the belt is adapted to be worn about the waist of a user, and is operatively connected to the sensor, such that a predetermined tensile force applied to the belt, caused by the consumption of food by the user, activates the switch, and in turn, activates the alarm. Preferably, the sensor includes a delay circuit connected between the activation switch and the alarm such that the tensile force must be applied continuously for a desired time interval before the alarm is activated.

Le dispositif comprend une ceinture et un capteur qui, lui, est constitué d'un boîtier, d'un signal sonore et d'un commutateur d'actionnement raccordé au signal sonore. La ceinture est portée autour de la taille d'un utilisateur et est raccordée au capteur, de façon qu'une force de traction exercée sur la ceinture, provoquée par la consommation de nourriture de l'utilisateur, actionne le commutateur qui, à son tour, actionne le signal sonore. De préférence, le capteur comprend un circuit à retard connecté entre le commutateur d'actionnement et le signal sonore de façon que la force de traction doive être exercée en continu pour une période de temps prédéterminée avant que le signal sonore soit activé.
