This invention relates to an extraction tool used in conjunction with a standard survey tripod for the removal of Statutory Survey Iron Post (hereafter referred to as I.P.) from the ground, without damaging the same. A surveyor is required to remove I.P.'s for the purpose of determining original position, viewing legal markings, or changing the position of an I.P. according to the instructions of a legal land surveyor. When the invention is mounted onto the standard survey tripod, using a collar system, and then positioned over the I.P. to be removed, a chain of required length with a grab plate attached at one end is connected to a hand-jack at the other end by means of a chain-hook. Operation of the hand-jack exerts a downward force on the standard survey tripod, providing support, as the upward force of the chain engages the grab-plate with the I.P., pulling the I.P. from the ground with minimal effort.
